Gerhard & the 2 Richards at the foot of the Sigmundspitz
In the summer of 1963 three TRICOUNIS went to the Austrian Alps to tackle the ‘Zillertal High Route’, a high level hut-to-hut tour with mixed rock and snow peaks, and with excursion routes of various standards available from the huts. For the first few days they fended for themselves, but then, by pre-arrangement, availed themselves of the services of a local guide, Gerhard Horhager to help them tackle some of the more difficult ascents and glaciers.
